Therapy and Training
At Psychology in Action, Sutton Coldfield, we help our clients to overcome stress, emotional problems, relationship problems or troublesome habits. We use a series of confidential therapy sessions to assess and address such issues as depression, anxiety, phobias, affects of loss and trauma and ADHD. We work with all of the major health insurance companies, and we accept referrals from GPs.
We also have experience in providing a discreet, exclusive service to high-profile clients in need of emotional and psychological support for stress management and other difficulties.
Our experienced psychologists use a combination of different approaches to treat your individual problems:
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy - enabling you to face your present situation and create strategies to improve your quality of life. We help you to challenge the way you think and devise better ways of addressing your problems.
- Solution Focused Therapy - empowers you to recognize and identify the skills, strengths, and abilities you possess, allowing your self-esteem and self-confidence to blossom and grow.
- Marital Therapy and Family Therapy - problems are rarely isolated, but are often the result of relationship problems in a marriage, partnership or family. We draw upon the strengths and commitments that exist within the family to improve communication and understanding, allowing you to overcome difficulties.
- Relaxation Training - teaching you to cope with the stresses and anxiety produced by daily living. We use a biofeedback machine (Relaxometer) to help you recognise when your body is under stress and when you are at peace. We then use that knowledge to teach you muscle and mental relaxation exercises to practice daily.
- Person Centred Therapy - gives you trust in yourself, helping you to use your vast potential to understand and resolve your own problems. A therapeutic relationship can strengthen your own, self-directed growth.
- Play Therapy - encouraging children to actively and spontaneously communicate with a therapist, helping them relate to the external world and express their anxieties.
We also provide life coaching for healthy people who wish to improve their lives in specific ways, such as finding a new relationship or changing careers.
